Pakistan has been hit by the worst natural disaster in its history. Floods have killed some 1,600 people, made 4 million homeless and affected a record 20 million. And more is yet to come as swollen rivers continue to surge south and disease looms.
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is the lead agency providing shelter and protection in two of the worst affected areas, Balochistan in the south-west and Khyber Pakhtunkwa in the north-west. They are distributing life-saving essentials such as tents, plastic sheeting, blankets, mosquito nets, disinfectant and cooking materials.
But their stocks are running low. UNHCR needs your help to step up its activities and reach 2 million people in need over the coming months.
Corrs has already pledged an initial $20,000 donation to support UNHCR efforts and staff fundraising efforts are currently underway.
