Corrs Chambers Westgarth has unveiled a new graduate development program – called Launch - with the arrival of its 2012 Graduates.
Corrs partner Robert Regan, who led the Launch project, says the new program provides the development-rich experiences essential to developing world class lawyers.
“The new Launch program is specifically designed to expose our graduates to the experience, skills and expertise they need to become outstanding, highly-skilled practitioners,” he said.
“Graduates will learn in the classroom and on the job. They will be mentored by senior lawyers and exposed to clients and client-work, and throughout the program they will receive on-going coaching and regular feedback.
“To achieve this, we’ve extended our program to 18 months with graduates now rotating through divisions rather than practice groups. This provides the opportunity for them to work with a greater number of partners and senior lawyers.”
Corrs’ investment in its graduate development program is evidence of its increasing market presence domestically and in Asia, and its continuing growth strategy.
A dedicated Graduate Development Manager focused solely on supporting graduates in their learning, mentoring and practical work experiences is another key feature of Launch and further proof of Corrs’ commitment to developing its staff.
Corrs partner and CEO John W.H. Denton said Launch is one of the most exciting graduate development programs in Australia.
“We are resolute in our ambition to offer the best career paths, rewards, and recognition in the legal market,” Mr Denton said.
2012 graduate Michael McCarthy said the decision to apply for a position at Corrs was an easy one.
“Corrs has a strong reputation for providing a top quality graduate experience, and Launch significantly strengthens that reputation amongst graduates,” Mr McCarthy said.
“I feel fortunate to have been offered a graduate position with Corrs, and believe my career will benefit from this program,” he said.
Corrs’ commitment to providing its staff with the opportunity to build successful careers has made it a much sought after employer.
It has received nine employer of choice awards in the past four years, and is the only large national law firm to be awarded ALB Gold Employer of Choice 2011 – as voted by staff in an independent national survey.
