Corrs Chambers Westgarth has appointed Colin Lockhart, an expert in misleading and deceptive conduct law, as counsel in the Litigation Group based in Perth.

Colin is recognised nationally as a leading authority on the law of misleading or deceptive conduct. Colin is the author of The Law of Misleading or Deceptive Conduct and has lectured at the University of Western Australia (UWA) on the topic.

He has also taught contract law, intellectual property and competition law as well as International Commercial Arbitration and International Business Law at the UWA Graduate School of Management.

Colin brings extensive experience in international arbitration proceedings, including ICC arbitrations in France and Australia.

Colin has advised on major disputes such as claims by Alcoa against Harriet Joint Venture partners for damages for interruption to gas supply arising out of the Varanus Island explosion and the prosecution of HJV parties for alleged failure to maintain gas pipelines. He acted for ONGC, one of the largest Indian oil companies, in its dispute with Clough Engineering. Colin has wide experience in advising commercial clients on competition, access and regulatory matters. Colin advised Newmont on all of its access disputes in relation to the WA electricity grid.
