Corrs Chambers Westgarth partner and CEO John W. H. Denton hosted and attended the first meeting of Australia’s B20 2014 Organizing Committee in Corrs Sydney office today.

Prime Minister, Julia Gillard and Deputy Prime Minister Wayne Swan joined Australia’s business leaders including Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Westpac, Gail Kelly; Wesfarmers Managing Director, Richard Goyder AO and BHP Billiton Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Mackenzie.

Discussed at the meeting were Australia’s priorities for G20 and perspectives on outreach as well as our role as host country.

The B20 leadership group has identified engagement with Asia to increase trade and investment as a priority issue, along with a G20 agenda to lift growth, create wealth and support job creation.

Mr Denton is one of two originating Australian Business 20 Group members and was a key adviser to the Federal Government on the ‘Australia in the Asian Century’ white paper.

The 27-strong Australian B20 Group will continue to work with the government to develop the agenda for the G20 meeting, which brings together leaders from the United States, Britain, Russia, China and other major economies in Brisbane in November 2014.
