Corrs Chambers Westgarth has been ranked one of Australasia’s top five deal-making law firms in 2013.

Corrs has placed fourth on Mergermarket’s leading M&A League Table which considers Australasia’s best deals by value announced in the first half of the year.

The firm’s deals had a listed value of US$4,632 million, jumping from an 11th place ranking in 2012.

Corrs also listed highly on average individual deal worth, with total value spread across just eight major matters.

The firm’s strong performance has been underpinned by large transactions in a range of industries, most notably acting for Archer Daniels Midland Company’s in its A$3.4 billion takeover offer for Australian agribusiness, GrainCorp Limited and the pharmaceutical wholesaler Symbion, during its acquisition by EBOS Group in one of the largest recent private sector transactions in New Zealand worth NZD$1.1B.

Andrew Messenger, Chairman of our International Engagement Strategy said: “To be ranked so highly among global competitors is an outstanding result and a testament to work of the Corrs’ M&A team. We are represented alongside firms more than double our size – and in this instance, it is about quality, both in deals and in our people.”

Corrs’ partner and corporate divisional leader, Robert Regan said it was an exceptional result for all involved.
