Corrs Chambers Westgarth partner and CEO John W.H. Denton AO has been elected by The International Chamber of Commerce’s (ICC), ICC World Council as a member of the ICC Executive Board. John is the only Australian CEO to sit on the ICC Executive Board.
The ICC is one of the world's largest and most important independent international business organisations, taking a central role in international trade and business and by working with intergovernmental bodies including the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and the World Intellectual Property Organization. ICC forges international rules, mechanisms and standards that are used daily around the world.
Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce, John Danilovich said, “We are delighted that John has agreed to join the ICC Executive Board. This is an important time for ICC as we work to ensure that business interests are represented in key international processes—from the reform of the international tax system through to the UN’s sustainable development agenda. John’s skills and expertise will be a huge asset for us as we work to shape global and regional policies that work with the private sector to deliver sustainable growth”.
John Denton said he was thrilled to be elected as a member of the ICC Executive Board and was looking forward to being part of the strong policy positions for open trade and the market economy that ICC develops.

In addition to his new leadership role on the ICC Executive Board, John is one of two originating members of the B20, the business reference group of the G20 and is a member of the Australian B20 Leadership Group. John has also been a long standing member of the International Chamber of Commerce G20 CEO Advisory Group, the primary body for establishing the direction of business input within the G20 process.
John’s first mandate on the ICC Executive Board will run 1 July 2015 – 30 June 2018.
