The Australian start-up community is set to benefit from a new offering by Australia’s leading independent law firm, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, which has launched a specialist service for entrepreneurs designed to provide them with top-quality legal support across their entire business lifecycle.

The specialist offering, CorrsEdge, will provide start-ups with affordable access to some of Australia’s most experienced lawyers, as well as the firm’s proprietary intuitive online Smart Platform, designed specifically to help start-ups effectively anticipate and manage their legal needs. The platform includes access to more than 30 legal documents across a range of areas including employment law, IP protection, fundraisings and day-to-day legal and compliance issues.

“CorrsEdge is a compelling offering for start-ups, giving them access to an online platform with user-friendly legal documents and the backing of Australia's leading independent law firm. We‘ve received great feedback from clients which have been testing CorrsEdge and we have already completed a number of capital raisings using the platform,” said Corrs Partner Jonathan Farrer.

Corrs Partner and CEO John W.H. Denton AO added: “Corrs’ pioneering spirit positions us well to help take these companies to the next level. It’s a mutually beneficial relationship: the start-ups receive cost effective first-class legal advice, and we have the opportunity to work with some of the country’s brightest minds and, in turn, help advance the competitiveness of Australia.”

The CorrsEdge Online Platform provides clients with access to intelligent legal documents with automation capabilities enabling users to generate their own bespoke documents. It also includes easy-to-follow downloadable guides to help clients understand which legal documents are relevant to their business and when they are required.

In addition, CorrsEdge clients have access to innovative fee options for legal services, including working with Corrs lawyers to produce legal documents much more cost effectively using the CorrsEdge platform.

The launch of CorrsEdge is the latest of a number of Corrs’ initiatives to support Australian entrepreneurs, with the firm announcing in September that it had entered into a three-year partnership with the University of Melbourne based Melbourne Accelerator Program (MAP), valued at more than six figures in financial and time contributions. Corrs is the exclusive legal provider for the Wade Institute’s Master of Entrepreneurship program at the University of Melbourne and is also supporting the ongoing development of female entrepreneurs as the exclusive legal provider for Springboard.
