Corrs Chambers Westgarth has advised Aurizon (ASX: AZJ) on the donation of 37 houses to the Salvation Army.
Located in regional areas of Queensland including Emerald, Moranbah, Cloncurry and Dysart, the houses will benefit women and children in crisis through domestic violence and homelessness.
Corrs partnered with Aurizon on a pro-bono basis and advised on the structure of the transaction and assisted with all aspects of the conveyance of the houses to the Salvation Army.
April Whittam, Manager Brand and Sponsorship at Aurizon, said: “We are delighted that Corrs Chambers and Westgarth provided pro-bono services for Aurizon’s unique housing offer to The Salvation Army.
“Together, both companies have further enabled emergency and community housing in regional Queensland to be provided, particularly for women and children in crisis as a result of domestic violence and homelessness.”
The Corrs team was led by Partner Daryl Clifford and supported by Special Counsel Rhys Lloyd-Morgan, Senior Associate Lisa Johnston and Senior Paralegal Rowena Nicholson.
Daryl Clifford, Partner at Corrs, said: “We were very happy to assist Aurizon in gifting these properties to the Salvation Army. We are confident they will be put to good use.”
