Australia’s leading independent law firm, Corrs Chambers Westgarth, has appointed Heidi Roberts as the firm’s Partner for Diversity and Inclusion and the new Chair of Corrs’ Diversity Council.

Based in Melbourne and having previously run the firm’s pro bono programme, Heidi has been with Corrs since 1998 and has been a partner with the firm since 2008.

Heidi replaces Annette Hughes as Chair of the Diversity Council, with Annette retiring from the partnership in December last year.

Heidi was previously a partner in Corrs’ Workplace Relations team and most recently took a 12 month sabbatical to spend time with her family in Boston. In her new role, Heidi will dedicate her time to driving Corrs’ diversity and inclusion strategies and maintaining the firm’s position as a leading employer in these areas.

“Heidi will continue the strong focus we have on gender equality, LGBTI inclusion, flexibility and our RAP initiatives. We are determined to drive diversity, equality and inclusion in the legal profession and I am delighted that Heidi, with all her experience and commitment, will be leading our efforts to achieve this,” said John W.H. Denton AO, Partner and CEO of Corrs Chambers Westgarth.

“I would also like to thank Annette, who has made a significant contribution to the firm and the profession. Under Annette’s leadership as Chair of our Diversity Council, Corrs has been consistently named as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency and was awarded Diversity Firm of the Year in the 2015 Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards,” he added.
