Corrs CEO contributes to Australian-American Dialogue

8 August 2013

Corrs CEO and partner John W. H. Denton will join more than 100 Australian and American leaders from government, business, media, education and the community as part of the defining Australian American Leadership Dialogue (AALD) in Sydney this week.

Now in its 21st year, the AALD brings together some of the world’s most influential political and business figures to review and refine the Australian-American relationship.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Leader of the Opposition Tony Abbot will both be in attendance, along with a suite of high profile American representatives including US Ambassador to Australia, Jeffrey Bleich, Commander of the US Fleet Cyber Command, Michael Rogers and Assistant to the President, Bruce Reed.

Conversation will focus on critical bilateral issues covering:

  • Global finance and trade
  • Indo-Pacific and China defence and security
  • Agriculture, energy, water and resources
  • Technology, innovation and education

Cyber security and social media will also be up for discussion.

Mr Denton said the Dialogue was widely recognised as a vital platform for the exchange of ideas which impacted strategic policy in both nations.

“I am thrilled to participate again in this hallmark event. The Australian American Leadership Dialogue is an invaluable forum which brings together leaders from both nations to forge longstanding relationships, renew old friendships and make new connections. It is an unmatched platform which shapes the direction of one of Australia’s most important bilateral relationships and supports the free-flowing exchange of information and ideas to significantly deepen mutual understanding.”

Corrs partner Mark McCowan also took part in the event as a delegate at the AALD Young Leadership Dialogue. The YLD engages leaders aged 24 - 37 on issues of priority for Australian and American youth and the next generation.
