Corrs Chambers Westgarth’s Sydney office co-hosted a cocktail event with The Crescent Institute and David Thodey, Telstra CEO as the guest speaker on 26 September 2013.
The event attracted professionals from the business community and Corrs was represented by partner Michael Chaaya.
Mr Chaaya welcomed guests and noted the new venue for future events, which will be held at Corrs’ new office at 8 Chifley. This was followed by an official welcome by Talal Yassine, Patron of the Crescent Institute.
David Thodey addressed a record number of attendees at the very successful Crescent Institute event.
Mr Thodey discussed Telstra's purpose, which is to go beyond a mere communications and media company to being about "connecting people". He also discussed the ever-changing environment of business and themes crucial to Australia's prosperity and development in ‘the Asian Century' including the generational shift towards online technology, the growth of Asia and the development of new technologies.
During question and answer time Mr Thodey gave insights into the challenges of day-to-day operations at Telstra, and how to maintain relevance as a telco both in the present and future given developments such as the NBN.
Corrs was delighted to co-host the event and congratulates The Crescent Institute on another successful event.
