Corrs hosts Global Foundation gathering

13 August 2013

Leading figures in trade, government and academia met in Corrs’ Melbourne office yesterday to take part in The Global Foundation Advisory Council meeting and to reflect on the major issues related to global governance.

Corrs CEO and partner John W.H. Denton hosted the meeting which was followed by a formal dinner led by partner Justin Fox.

Australia’s relationship with Indonesia was a major focus of the event, which was attended by special guest His Excellency Mr Nadjib Riphat Kesoema, Indonesian Ambassador to Australia, accompanied by Ms Ita Puspitasari, Indonesian Consul for Economic Affairs.

Also in attendance was medical luminary and former Australian of the Year, Sir Gus Nossal AC CBE, as well as a host of leading industry and community figures including from Goldman Sachs, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Coles, the Australian Academy of Science, La Trobe University and more.

Attendees discussed ongoing areas of focus for The Global Foundation as one of Australia’s most influential not-for-profit strategy organisations. Critical issues include global food security, and facilitating the role of the G20 to address the global challenges of our times.

“Corrs is honoured to have hosted this prestigious gathering and to support the forward-thinking work done by The Global Foundation which facilitates real outcomes in some of the world’s most important global issues including food security, planetary sustainability and financial stability, to name a few,” John W.H. Denton said.

The Global Foundation encourages greater cooperation between private sector and governments across national borders and is currently working closely with government and business in Indonesia and Australia to develop a cooperative framework for bilateral food partnerships.

The Foundation will host Indonesia’s Vice President Boediono during his visit to Australia in November, and will bring a high level delegation to Jakarta late August to engage leaders from the public and private sectors of both nations.
