It was almost a century ago when one of Australia’s oldest independent law firms Corrs Chambers Westgarth first held an office on Melbourne’s Collins Street. Now it is back to the future, with the national firm recently relocating its Melbourne office to the new centre piece building at 567 Collins Street.
The relocation signals a move towards a more modern work environment. The large flexible floor-plates at 567 Collins support the firm’s strategy and culture of openness and collaboration. This is the same workplace style adopted in Corrs’ Sydney and Brisbane premises, which are designed to encourage greater connectivity, mobility and flexibility.

The open and flexible work environment is not new to Corrs. On moving to 8 Chifley Square, Sydney in October 2013 Corrs became the first major Australian law firm to adopt a fully open and flexible workplace. Melbourne is the third in a series of moves for Corrs’ four national offices. Corrs’ Brisbane office relocated to ONE ONE ONE Eagle Street in October 2014 and finally Perth will move to new premises at 123 St Georges Terrace - Brookfield Place Tower 2 in 2016.
Corrs’ new Melbourne office is established across the top five floors in the new 26-level premium tower at 567 Collins Street. The interior designer for the Corrs fit-out was Bates Smart Architects.
567 Collins Street lies in the heart of Melbourne’s legal, commercial, insurance, banking and finance precincts, and is central to the city’s three main activities districts – CBD, Docklands and Southbank.
The 26-level premium grade tower comprises a 2-3 level high foyer with a lobby, cafe and retail component, two levels of health club/gym and seven levels of podium campus office, with a 74m frontage to Collins Street.
Designed by Cox and Spowers and developed by Leighton Properties, the building will be highly sustainable and is aiming for 5 star (Excellent) NABERS Energy Rating (a rating of a building’s operational impact on the environment) and 5 star (Australian Excellence) Green Star rating (a rating which reflects the environmental design and construction of buildings).
567 Collins Street reached practical completion in July 2015.
