Corrs Chambers Westgarth partner James North has been appointed by the NSW Government to the NSW Procurement Industry Advisory Group.
As part of the senior industry advisory group, which includes six other representatives, James will bring his considerable outsourcing and commercial law expertise to provide expert advice to the procurement reform process with the aim of making it easier and simpler to do business with government.
James has extensive experience in technology and business process outsourcing, communications infrastructure projects and commercial law. He has also been recognised as a leader in the “converging” industries of communications, media and technology by distinguished legal industry publications such as the Australian Legal Business Magazine and Chambers Global.
The Minister for Finance and Services Greg Pearce said in a February 1 Media Statement, “This is a fantastic group who have the skills and experience within Government, research institutions and the private sector in Australia and internationally to help drive the reform process.”
“The establishment of the Industry Advisory Group is part of a major reform process that has seen the formation of the NSW Procurement Board, the simplification of contract terms and conditions, removal of contract management fees and improved engagement with small and medium enterprises,” Mr Pearce said.
