Corrs Chambers Westgarth partners Jeremy King, Daryl Clifford and Spencer Flay will be among well-known business and government leaders taking to the streets this week to sell copies of The Big Issue magazine from 1-5 February.

The CEO Selling Campaign is part of International Vendor Week, an international celebration of street paper vendors around the world.

The Australian version of The Big Issue is one of 112 street papers supported by the International Network of Street Papers, providing work opportunities to 11,000 people globally each year.

More than 60 business and government leaders across Australia will show their support for Vendor Week by donning The Big Issue’s trademark fluoro vests and selling copies of the magazine alongside vendors.

You can get behind the initiative by buying a copy of the magazine from Jeremy, Daryl and Spencer and their vendor mentor:

  • Daryl Clifford (Brisbane) - Tuesday 2 February from 7.45am outside OneOneOne Eagle Street
  • Jeremy King (Melbourne) – Wednesday 3 February from 12.30pm outside 567 Collins Street
  • Spencer Flay (Perth) – Friday 5 February from 8.30am – 9.00am outside Woodside Plaza

The Big Issue’s CEO Steven Persson said: “International Vendor Week aims to raise awareness for the men and women who are striving to better their lives by selling street papers.

“This year marks the 20th anniversary of The Big Issue’s launch in Australia. In the past two decades, the organisation has given more than 5000 people the opportunity to earn an income through magazine sales, putting more than $21 million into vendors’ pockets.”

This will be the fourth International Vendor Week run by the International Network of Street Papers. Street papers have so far provided work opportunities to almost 300,000 vendors, generating an income of more than $47 million a year.
