He is known for his commercial mindset, in-depth understanding of the property industry and knowledge of the Melbourne and Sydney commercial property markets. Whilst focusing most recently on large scale acquisitions / disposals and development of commercial and retail property, Andy’s practice covers all aspects of property law.

Andy’s commercially informed approach is well matched to the fast-paced nature of the property law matters on which he advises.   • Mirvac – Como Centre Acted on the sale of the Como Shopping Centre ($230M) involving vendor due diligence in respect of a complex titling structure including statutory lease and subdivision, drafting and negotiation of contract of sale including owners corporation, survey and capital works provisions. The sale of this iconic Melbourne address achieved a fantastic result for the client in the face of some complex property law issues.
  • Mirvac – Australian Portfolio Sale Acted on the sale of a portfolio of commercial and retail assets located on the eastern seaboard to the Blackstone Group ($800m) which included a 50% interest in Westpac Place, Sydney, involving complex co-ownership arrangements and interdependency issues.
  • Blackstone - Numerous Transactions Acted on the portfolio acquisition of retail shopping centres in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland from the Vicinity and Scentre groups involving large scale title and lease due diligence and drafting and negotiation of interdependent contracts of sale.
    Several high profile acquisitions and disposals including acquisitions of a 25% interest in Liberty Place, Sydney, a 50% interest in Southern Cross Towers, Melbourne and shopping centre portfolios from Scentre Group and Vicinity.
  • Amcor – Aphington paper mill Advised on the sale of this 16.5 hectare site for $120M to two separate developers for a staged mixed use development. Involved the negotiation / drafting of a complex contract dealing with demolition, remediation, master planning and staged settlement.
  • Eureka Tower Advising on all aspects of the sale of apartments in Eureka Tower, including preparation and development of master sales contract, titling and subdivisions advice and financial reporting.
  • McDonald’s Acting in its negotiation of leases and freehold acquisitions for its ongoing store rollout as well as maintenance of existing sites in Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
  • EBOS/Symbion Acting in respect of all real estate matters including lease renewals and negotiation and entry into warehousing / distribution leases in support of its health products business. Most recently this has included the acquisition of a warehousing site in Brisbane under an option deed for the development of a purpose built warehousing facility.
  • Lend Lease – Batmans Hill Advised on the review and drafting of the (ultimately successful) tender in respect of the Batmans Hill Dockland’s precinct (now the site of Melbourne Quarter) which required submission of an amended PDA including agreements with VicRoads and VicTrack.
  • Lend Lease – Victoria Harbour Advised on matters arising from the Victoria Harbour development, including the negotiation of amendments to the PDA and complex subdivision / titling issues arising.
