Jennifer Barrett

Jennifer specialises in advising on national and international construction and engineering projects. She has worked on projects all over the world and has particular experience in international arbitration.

Jennifer has advised clients from within national and local government, owners and contractors, funders and joint venturers and provided input to projects at all stages across the construction timeline: from concept to design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and delivery.

Jennifer obtained her qualifications in England, including First Class Honours in law degrees from Oxford and Cambridge.

  • Oil & Gas Advising an international joint venture in connection with a major project in Australia. This included claims by the head-contractor and sub-contractor and involved aspects of adjudication, Supreme Court proceedings, expert determination and ICC arbitration.
  • International Energy Company Instrumental in advising a major international energy company in connection with disputes arising from activities in the USA, with instructions subsequently extended to general litigation, projects and commercial advice across its other world-wide businesses.
  • Roads Advising a European contractor in connection with claims arising from a motorway construction project in the Caribbean, including commercial mediation and settlement.
  • Aircraft Acting for an American house hold name in respect of an ICC arbitration relating to the design and development of hi-tech engineering products.
  • Government Instructed by the Department of Trade and Industry in London regarding the design and construction of world-class lab facilities, involving multiple dispute forums.
  • Landmark London commercial properties Assisting several different English and international institutions with claims arising in respect of design, construction and development of key London properties, including several renowned locations and designs.
  • UNCITRAL arbitration Advising an Australian contractor in respect of claims and counterclaims in connection with construction projects in Papua New Guinea.
  • Technology and Construction Court, London Instructed by a British property fund in connection with a significant construction law decision in the TCC in London.
