With over 20 years’ experience in financial products advice, Joanne is known for her technical excellence and strong relationship skills.

Her areas of specialty include superannuation, managed investments, trusts, insurance and general corporate advice.

Since 2010, she has been noted by peer reviewed Best Lawyers as one of Australia’s best superannuation lawyers and is also actively involved in a number of industry bodies.

Since 2001, Joanne has been on the Queensland Executive Committee of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia, with positions including Former Chair and former secretary of the Committee. She has been on the Queensland Regional Council of FINSIA since 2014, and is a member and former Secretary of the Queensland branch of Women in Super.

Advised on Australia Post’s corporate superannuation scheme, including benefit design, administration arrangements and member communications.

Sunsuper fund mergers and transfers

Advised in relation to the implementation of Sunsuper’s growth strategy through successor fund transfers with a value in excess of A$20 billion. The transfers included the strategically important merger with Kinetic Super, and transfer of corporate plans for Reserve Bank of Australia and BlueScope Steel.

Other superannuation fund mergers and transfers

Advised on mergers and fund transfers for Austsafe Super, AUST(Q), City Super, Energy Super, Equity Trustees, QIEC Super and Watpac.


Advised on restructure of trusteeship of unregistered managed investment scheme, which included assisting in the transfer of infrastructure assets, and advice on operation of pre-emptive rights, domestically and globally. Advised on structure, regulatory issues and disclosure, including AFS licensing requirements, admission of new investors including foreign investors, constitution amendments and review of Information Memorandum.
