Megan Russell

Megan is a special counsel in the Banking and Finance team. Megan advises sponsors, borrowers and financiers on a range of financing transactions and accordingly is well versed on the different requirements and perspectives of these participants.

Megan’s practice has a particular focus on corporate, acquisition and property finance and other types of limited recourse financing encompassing numerous asset types and structures. Her practice includes not only running processes in respect of finance documentation for major transactions but also due diligence investigations and reporting for sponsors and/or financiers.

Megan is a special counsel in the Banking and Finance team. Megan advises sponsors, borrowers and financiers on a range of financing transactions and accordingly is well versed on the different requirements and perspectives of these participants.

Megan’s practice has a particular focus on corporate, acquisition and property finance and other types of limited recourse financing encompassing numerous asset types and structures. Her practice includes not only running processes in respect of finance documentation for major transactions but also due diligence investigations and reporting for sponsors and/or financiers.

Megan has been at Corrs Chambers Westgarth since 2003, working in the Property and Infrastructure team for two years before moving to the Banking and Finance team in 2005.  Megan was seconded to Westpac Institutional Bank’s legal team for six months in 2007 and to ANZ’s loans structuring and execution team for three months in 2009.  Prior to Corrs, Megan worked as an attorney in South Africa for two years. She requalified in Australia and was admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales in 2004.

  • Demerger of Orora from Amcor Acted on Orora’s syndicated facility in connection with the demerger of Amcor’s Australasia packaging and distribution business by way of scheme of arrangement.
  • Acquisition of Mirvac non-core portfolio Acted for Mirvac in the subordinated vendor financing it provided to Blackstone in connection with Blackstone’s acquisition of a portfolio of non-core properties and a part interest in Westpac Place from Mirvac.
  • Acquisition of GE office portfolio Acted for Blackstone in the financing of its acquisition of a portfolio of office buildings from GE Capital.
  • Corporate facility, Vodafone Hutchison Australia Acted for VHA in its inaugural global bank syndication and its refinancing.
  • Acquisition of Valad Acted for the lead arrangers and underwriters of syndicated acquisition facilities for Blackstone’s take private of the Valad Property Group.
