Assisting local developer Vitale Projects and its joint venture partners, Accor Hotels and The Entertainment Group (both international property groups), to obtain the planning approvals to establish the first ever five-star Mondrian hotel in Australia at a beachfront location in Burleigh on the Gold Coast.
NSW Department of Planning and Environment
Provided extensive strategic advice to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment in relation to several aspects of the Planning Reform Action Plan, which aims to streamline the land rezoning process in NSW. Our advice covered the categorisation of rezoning proposals from complex to simple, necessary associated public infrastructure and delivery arrangements, and options for rezoning proposals to be assessed concurrently with development applications.
Western Parkland City Authority
Advising the newly-established Western Parkland City Authority in relation to amendments to planning controls to facilitate the expeditious delivery of high quality development and infrastructure for the new Western Sydney Aerotropolis and Bradfield City Centre. This involves drafting amendments to planning controls and providing strategic planning advice on master planning and utilities in the 11,200 hectare area surrounding the Western Sydney International Airport.
Stockland
Assisting Stockland in the A$193 million acquisition of the 700-hectare master planned Providence parcel of land at Ripley Valley, Ipswich, Queensland. This parcel has the ability to generate a further A$2 billion in lot sales over the next 20 years. A key issue that needs to be resolved to allow the master planned development to continue is the significant infrastructure constraints which exist in the area.
Infrastructure NSW
Assisting Infrastructure NSW with the strategically important modifications to various planning approvals required to complete the Central Barangaroo Pprecinct which has an overall project value of A$UD2.5 billion.
Sunshine Coast Regional Council
Advised Sunshine Coast Regional Council on the procurement of significant whole-of-region waste collection, disposal and recyclables processing services to the local community.

Advising a proposed lender on environment and planning approvals issues relating to an energy from waste facility in Victoria.
Remondis
Advised Remondis in relation to general environmental matters for the Swanbank Renewable Energy & Waste Management Facility. This included compliance with environmental authorities, assisting with responses to the Department of Environment and Science and advising on its A$400 million waste to energy plant, which will generate 50 megawatts of baseload electricity each year.
Transport for NSW
Acted for Transport for NSW in the negotiation of the Voluntary Planning Agreement for the Moorebank Precinct West development with the Sydney Intermodal Terminal Alliance. The Moorebank intermodal project is one of Australia’s largest freight infrastructure projects, and is designed to transform the way containerised freight moves through Port Botany.
Queensland Department of Transport & Main Roads
Advised the Queensland Government Department of Transport and Main Roads on a range of planning and environmental approval issues associated with the delivery of the Gold Coast Light Rail Project Stage 3 Project. Stage 3 is a 6.7 km extension of the existing passenger light rail system, linking Helensvale to Burleigh Heads, set to be operational in 2025. The project reflects a total investment of A$1.2 billion.
Oxford Properties Group and Invest
Advising Oxford Properties Group and Invest on all aspects of the A$1.7 billion Pitt Street Metro Station over station development project in the Sydney CBD. The over station developments comprise two towers of approximately 43 and 35 storeys that are intended to contribute to the revitalisation of the centre of the Sydney CBD, between Town Hall and Hyde Park.
Pulse Consortium
Advising Pulse Consortium on both the initial environmental due diligence and approvals framework for the Cross River Rail project as well as on remediation obligations for land on the Environmental Management Register, and whether new developments have to account for potential noise/vibration impacts arising from underground rail. This project is the Queensland Government’s highest priority infrastructure project (and designated as a High Priority Initiative by Infrastructure Australia). The project comprises a circa 10km rail line which includes 5.9km of tunnel under the Brisbane River and the central business district.
