At the start of the lawyer development program, we bring all our graduates together in one location for a multi-day learning experience, where you can meet with your peers, learn and have fun.
At the Graduate Academy, you will:
There's a lot to learn when you're starting out in your career and we make sure you get the right support from the beginning. Comprehensive orientation programs are held in your local office, including training in research skills and our systems and processes.
You'll need to complete Practical Legal Training (PLT) to be admitted as a lawyer in Australia. Our in-house PLT program is run by the College of Law and includes face-to-face workshops, online coursework and work experience.
Our practice group rotations allow you to gain hands-on experience and exposure to different areas of law. In our structured 24-month program, you will complete one 12-month rotation, followed by two six-month rotations. An extended placement for your first 12-months will allow you to build your capabilities through practical experience and to develop a strong relationship with your mentor partner and team.
Graduate and client program
We provide opportunities to meet junior in-house clients while participating in a series of practical legal workshops. We are proud of our strong client relationships and want to help you make the right connections from the start of your career.
Work shadowing
There is no better way to learn than by observing other exceptional lawyers at work. Our work shadowing program gives you the chance to see partners and senior lawyers in action and learn from them during meetings, conference calls and court appearances.
Pro bono and Community
As a graduate lawyer, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to pro-bono matters. We perform around 25,000 hours of pro bono and volunteer work each year, helping those who need it most. Learn more about our dedicated Pro Bono and Community program here.
We are committed to your professional growth and development, and an important part of that is ensuring you have structured support from your first day with us. Your professional support network includes partners, a graduate mentor and buddy, and a dedicated People and Performance contact who will work with you to develop your technical skills and provide career guidance.
The Corrs Virtual Internship lets you experience where a career at Corrs can take you. Our people will guide you through their experience at Corrs while providing you with the opportunity to take instructions on matters typically completed by junior lawyers. When you finish a task, you will be provided with a sample that has been completed by a Corrs lawyer.
