Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Australia’s leading independent law firm, has won the award for Innovation in New Products and Services at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards 2019 – for the Corrs Cyber service.
Corrs Cyber is a multi-disciplinary data breach service which provides businesses with access to a combined team of data breach management specialists, including legal advisors, IT forensic investigation specialists, cyber risk and incident response consultants, and crisis and reputation management services.
At the heart of the innovation is the integration of disparate incident response services into a single multidisciplinary solution, with a single contact point for clients to manage the legal, regulatory, technical and communications aspects of responding to a data-breach.
The comprehensive team of experts ensures that in the event of a cyber incident, such as a data breach, denial of service attack or ransomware incident, critical evidence is captured immediately while businesses also have access to resources to rapidly restore operational integrity. This includes finding the source of the breach, learning how it occurred, providing a legal response, managing and protecting the organisation’s reputation and advising on what preventive steps need to be taken to minimise the risk of repeated incidents.
Treating the breach as a legal issue brings clarity to the problem and allows the company to design its response with appropriate protections, including investigating with the benefit of legal professional privilege.
The award was presented at a ceremony in Hong Kong on 2 May 2019.
