The Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg has appointed Sandy Mak, Head of Corporate at Corrs Chambers Westgarth, as a member of the Takeovers Panel.
Sandy’s appointment was announced by the Treasurer alongside two additional new panel appointments and 14 reappointments, all of which are for a three year term.
The Takeovers Panel is the primary forum for resolving disputes about a takeover bid in Australia. It seeks to decide disputes by focusing primarily on commercial and policy issues. The panel now has 49 part-time members from across Australia’s takeovers and business communities.
Named as ‘Dealmaker of the Year’ in both the 2020 Australian Law Awards and 2020 Women in Law Awards, Sandy is a market-leading M&A lawyer. She acts for both corporate and private equity clients on cross-border public and private mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, equity raisings, buy-backs and restructurings. She also advises on ASIC and ASX regulatory work, foreign investment regulations and corporate governance issues.
