Professor Anthony Forsyth

Anthony is a consultant with Corrs' employment and labour team.

He oversees the firm’s thought leadership in workplace relations and work health and safety, publishing regular articles on new legislation, case law and policy, as well as delivering seminars to clients and in-house counsel. He also provides practical advice to corporate and public sector clients on employment and workplace relations issues.

Anthony is also a Law Professor in the Graduate School of Business and Law at RMIT University. Anthony teaches Labour Law and Legal Research in the Juris Doctor Program at RMIT. His research covers collective bargaining, industrial action, workplace dispute resolution, trade unions and labour hire/agency work.

In 2015, Anthony was appointed by the Victorian Minister for Industrial Relations as Chair of the Independent Inquiry into the Labour Hire Industry and Insecure Work. The key recommendations of his August 2016 Final Report were implemented through passage of the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2018 (Vic), which establishes the Victorian Labour Hire Licensing Authority. The legislation aims to prevent exploitation of workers by unscrupulous labour contractors and provide a level playing field for legitimate businesses.

Anthony is Chair of the Victorian Government Inquiry into Labour Hire and Insecure Work, Vice President of the Australian Labour Law Association and member and former Co-Editor of the Australian Journal of Labour Law Editorial Advisory Board. He is a co-author of Creighton and Stewart's Labour Law, 6th Edition, published by Federation Press, a previous member of the Victorian Council of Legal Education, a founder and author of the Labour Law Down Under Blog, and a contributing author to CCH's Employment Chat Blog.
