With over 10 years’ international projects experience, John specialises in project finance, construction and services outsourcing contracts. He has a particular expertise in public private partnership (PPP), renewable and energy from waste projects.
John advises procuring bodies, sponsors and lenders across transport, public health, education and social housing infrastructure projects, in addition to the full spectrum of energy projects (including renewables, energy from waste and regeneration).
John relocated to Australia in 2019 and is admitted to practice in Australia and England and Wales. He has spent 4 years in-house advising an international project developer and an engineering consultancy.
Advised the senior lenders to Masdar Tribe Energy, John Laing, Acciona and HZIs’ 28.9 MW waste-to-energy facility in East Rockingham, Western Australia.
Advised the Department of Transport & Main Roads on stage 3 of the Gold Coast Light Rail project, Queensland.
Advised Capella Capital on bids for the Suburban Roads Upgrade PPP in Victoria, the New Footscray Hospital PPP in Victoria and on the early contractor engagement stage of Circular Quay Renewal project in NSW.
Advised CEFC and Investec on the financial close of stage 2 of Nexif’s Lincoln Gap Wind Farm in South Australia and the replacement of Vestas with Senvion for stage 1.
Advised energy from waste developer Wheelabrator on the 140MW Ferrybridge Multifuel 1 and 2 energy from waste projects in the UK, the development of a new project financed 49.9 MW energy from waste facility in Kemsley in the UK and its 19 MW energy from waste project at Parc Adfer in North Wales.
Advised Atkins (now SNC-Lavalin) as lead legal adviser to the UK infrastructure division on construction and engineering contracts, framework agreements, alliancing contracts and disputes.
