Mark is a taxation specialist with substantial experience in advising domestic and multinational businesses across a range of industries. He specialises in premium domestic and inbound investments, M&A and property transactions.
Mark advises on all taxation aspects on cross-border corporate transactions and financing structures including derivatives, advising and structuring M&A acquisitions including tax due diligence, the establishment of managed funds (including MITs and VCLPs) and advising on GST, duty and property related taxes relating to property developments.
Mark is a member of the Business Law Committee within the Law Council of Australia.
Advised on the sale of Macquarie Capital’s interests in Genesis Care Pty Limited, which has a reported enterprise value of A$2.2 billion, to funds advised by KKR.
Advised a foreign corporate on the acquisition of an ASX-listed telecommunications company including tax due diligence and advice.
Advised ENN on the further acquisition of an additional 4.8% of the issued capital of Santos to take ENN Group’s ownership to 15.11% totalling US$500 million. Also advised on the financing arrangement and derivative position.
Advised Serco Group on its A$1.01 billion sub-contract to provide essential defence support services to Bupa Health Services for the provision of health service to the Australian Defence Force including payroll tax issues.
Advised Mirvac on its stake in the ‘third city’ of Sydney, Badgerys Creek, buying a parcel of a 244-hectare industrial site for A$71 million a future industrial estate.
