Melanie specialises in the procurement, negotiation and administration of major projects.
She also has expertise in legislative development, public sector governance, administrative law and disputes, and advises both state and local government clients and private sector clients across a range of project delivery models, including PPPs and development agreements.
Melanie has broad professional experience, having previously practised as a private equity/banking and finance lawyer in New York. She has also spent a period as in-house counsel in the private sector, as well as in a commercial role on a major Victorian Government infrastructure project.
Advised the Director of Housing on the redevelopment of ageing metropolitan public housing sites as mixed developments comprising social and private housing.
Advised the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions on the expansion of the Melbourne Convention Centre Development, including additional convention space and commercial developments.
Managing commercial and legal risks for the relocation of Melbourne’s wholesale fruit, vegetable and flowers markets, including stakeholder issues.
Advising the Victorian Government on the ongoing administration of long term contractual arrangements, including with respect to dispute resolution.
Advising the Department of Transport and Main Roads on the procurement of Stage 3 of the Gold Coast Light Rail PPP, which will deliver a 6.7 km extension south of existing tram network to link Helensvale and Burleigh Heads.
