Over the course of the week and through a variety of events and initiatives, we showed our support for fostering an environment where everyone can feel comfortable bringing their whole selves to work, regardless of their sexuality or gender expression.
We were delighted to participate in LGBTIQ+ inclusive language workshops facilitated by Pride in Diversity, which focused on what pronouns are and why they are important. We also learnt about the importance of active allyship and how learning more about inclusive language can better equip allies to be supportive of LGBTIQ+ colleagues, clients and communities.
Other events hosted over the course of the week included a fireside chat with pro bono client, Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations, and a panel event with clients that highlighted ways in which inclusive environments can be created for aspiring LGBTIQ+ leaders.
Our Melbourne office hosted the Law Institute of Victoria’s LIVOut working group for their LGBTIQ+ & Young Lawyers event, with a keynote speech by Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commissioner, Ro Allen. We also facilitated Out Leadership’s OutNEXT program, designed for emerging LGBTIQ+ leaders, which focused on setting strong career goals and building mentor and sponsor networks.
To round out the week, social events were held in each of our offices to connect with and celebrate our LGBTIQ+ community.
