Advising Transgrid on all aspects of the HumeLink Project. HumeLink is a circa A$5 billion project which involves the construction of 365km of new 500 kV transmission line which will carry electricity to customers from new generation sources, including the expanded Snowy Hydro 2.0 Scheme.

Our team has advised on all aspects of HumeLink, from preparing and negotiating project documentation (including the introduction of the ITC model to transmission infrastructure) to advising on community engagement, environmental, work health and safety, and regulatory issues (including on regulatory investment test for transmission and contingent project application issues).

Our role involved working with Transgrid in effectively designing, managing, and implementing the land access procurement strategy. This has been a complex and significant undertaking across a very large project footprint and involving negotiations with over 300 landowners to enter into Option Deeds and otherwise assist with compulsory acquisition and compensation negotiations. Corrs also collaborated with Transgrid and its advisors to establish and implement a unique procurement process, which was successful in securing project contracts with high quality contractors that are tailored to Transgrid’s needs and preferences.
