Corrs was instrumental in securing the Australian world-renowned musical artist, Troye Sivan, to perform at the NGV’s 2018 Annual Gala. The Gala has become a major annual fixture of the Melbourne fashion and art scene. Corrs was heavily involved in advising on both the legal and commercial elements of the engagement, working closely with the NGV team to successfully close the deal with overseas counterparties in record time.

NDIS accommodation structures

Advised the sponsors on the senior, mezzanine and subordinated debt in respect of the delivery and operation of specialist disability accommodation in the Hunter, NSW region, referred to as the ‘Hunter Residences Program’.

Australia Post

Advised on the legal review for Australia Post’s Consumer Clearance Process (CCP). Working collaboratively with Australia Post, Corrs reviewed a high volume of collateral on a daily basis. This review ensured that Australia Post’s consumer facing materials complied with the Australian Consumer Law and other applicable laws, as well as Australia Post’s own requirements.

Advising on the terms of a A$20 million research collaboration with CSIRO and other research partners related to its exploration activities.

Queensland University of Technology

Advising QUT on agreements with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads and French company VEDECOM for the purchase of a vehicle and software licences, and for the conduct of autonomous vehicle software trial and collaborative research activities.

Major copyright litigation involving copyright infringement and misleading and deceptive conduct in relation to location-based augmented reality games.

Lundbeck

Advised Lundbeck on its 14-year patent litigation against four generic pharmaceutical companies relating to the anti-depressant Lexapro, with success on liability and damages.

Merck Sharp & Dohme

Advising Merck Sharp & Dohme on patent litigation with Wyeth seeking to revoke patents covering Wyeth’s Prevnar 13 products (vaccines that reduce the incidence of severe ear infections in children, and pneumonia in the elderly). Wyeth has alleged infringement of these patents by the proposed launch of Merck Sharp & Dohme’s own 15-valent vaccine.

QIC consortium

Advised a consortium comprised of QIC, Chinese investment fund Pagoda and Goldman Sachs’ private equity arm on various tax issues associated with its successful bid to acquire a majority stake in the Icon Cancer Care Group which operates a vertically integrated cancer care business in Australia and Singapore.

Advised on the Australian tax aspects of the global acquisition of the Cloud Sherpas group, a global cloud advisory and technology services company.

REA Group (realestate.com.au)

Advised on the tax aspects of the A$130 million acquisition of Hometrack Australia Pty Ltd, a residential property data analytics company from the UK listed ZPG Plc group.

Macquarie consortium

Advised a consortium comprising China Resources (Holdings) Company Limited, Macquarie Capital and Asia Pacific Healthcare Investments Limited on the acquisition of a significant interest in Genesis Care Limited, Australia’s largest cancer and cardiac services provider.
