Acted for Roads and Maritime Services in respect of a number of high value biodiversity credit Put and Call Options and Sale and Purchase Agreements (including an agreement for the purchase of biodiversity credits in excess of A$30 million in value). Corrs manages payment of the consideration and Total Fund Deposit through its trust account.

Department of Sustainability and Environment

Acting as the lead environmental advisor for the Department of Sustainability and Environment on the Victorian Desalination Project.

TAFE NSW - Connection Centres project

Advised on planning pathways and Part 5 Environmental Planning & Assessment Act assessment for state wide Connection Centres project.

Pacific Partnerships - Cross River Rail

Undertook initial environmental due diligence and approvals framework for Cross River Rail.

NSW Police - investigation into the unlawful disposal of drug waste

Provide extensive advice on an investigation into the unlawful disposal of drug waste, including attending numerous interviews with police officers, negotiating an enforceable undertaking and drafting reforms to the Protection of the Environment Waste Regulation 1997 seeking an urgent EPA exemption and drafting an amendment the Infrastructure SEPP.

Contamination, pollution, hazardous chemicals and waste management

Advisor to numerous clients, including MWRRG, Adelaide Brighton, Challenger, Woolworths, BP, Qenos, former UrbanGrowth, Frasers, John Holland, Incitec Pivot, CPB and Stockland on contamination and pollution issues, regulation of hazardous chemicals and waste management.

Huntlee housing project

Negotiated several planning agreements and advising and appearing in two sets of Land and Environment Court proceedings and Court of Appeal proceedings for a A$1.5 billion rezoning and development of land for a whole new town in the Hunter Valley, NSW’s biggest housing project.

Sekisui House - planning and environment appeal

Advised on facilitating the master planning and infrastructure planning of its West Village project at Boundary Street, West End, Brisbane (comprising up to 1,250 apartments, 6,500 m2 of public space and 18,500m2 of retail and entertainment uses).

McDonald’s

Advised McDonald’s in relation to a significant compensation claim arising from the compulsory acquisition of its land that was used for a flagship restaurant on Swanston Street in the CBD of Melbourne for the Metro Tunnel Project.

John Holland Group - Grafton Gaol PPP project

Advised on development risk associated with Aboriginal Land Rights legislation for Grafton Gaol PPP project.

Huntlee - New South Wales’s biggest housing project

Acted for LWP in relation to its Huntlee New Town Development (7,500 residential lots) including Land and Environment Court and Court of Appeal proceedings, various planning agreement negotiations and environmental, biodiversity, aboriginal cultural heritage and planning issues.

Port of Hastings Development Authority

Advised the Port of Hastings Development Authority on the approvals strategy for the environmental impact assessment, planning and other approvals for the Port of Hastings Container Expansion Project, including road and rail infrastructure to connect to port to the existing freight network.

Queensland Alumina Limited

Since 2018, assisting Queensland Alumina Limited in the preparation and implementation of its ‘5 Year Environmental Improvement Program’, which will see the investment of over A$400 million of capital expenditure, coupled with operational and cultural change, to reduce short and long-term environmental risk. Also acted for Queensland Alumina Limited for over 20 years on a range of regulatory enforcement matters (including multiple prosecutions) relating to environmental impacts associated with one of the world’s largest alumina refineries.

Queensland Alumina Limited - Alumina refinery

Advised QAL on a range of environmental incidents associated with its Alumina refinery in Gladstone, including responding to s451 notices, assisting in DES interviews, making submissions to DES, responding to statutory notices, and defending prosecutions.
