Jared Heath




Jared is a government advice expert, and has experience working with both public and private sector clients. He has advised on major projects involving Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and other structures, and has participated in significant legislative, regulatory and policy reviews and integrity inquiries.

Jared's practice includes advising on legislative and regulatory drafting and interpretation, administrative and public law risks and mitigation strategies, procurement and probity plans and procedures, and contract drafting and management. He understands government’s unique role and requirements, as well as the perspectives of private sector partners and counterparts.

Jared was seconded as the Principal Legal Adviser to the Royal Commission into Family Violence, and as International Counsel at Soemadipradja & Taher, one of Indonesia’s leading law firms.

Jared is a member of both the Pride@Corrs Network Steering Committee, and Corrs' South-East Asia Focus Group.

Jared is a director and chair (Victoria Committee) of the Australia Indonesia Business Council, a board member of Springvale Monash Legal Service and a Fellow (Melbourne JD) of the University of Melbourne’s Law School.

Key deals

Victorian Royal Commission into Family Violence

Serving as the Commission’s Principal Legal Adviser, advising the Commissioners and CEO, managing the legal team and instructing Counsel Assisting throughout the inquiry.

Victorian Department of Health and Human Services, Family Safety Victoria

Advising on the establishment of the Support and Safety Hubs, as well as the new information sharing regime. Advising on a wide variety of legislative, regulatory and contractual matters, including drafting legislation and the investigation of, and contractual rights against, funded service providers.

Victorian gambling licences review

Acting for the State of Victoria in its review of gambling licences in Victoria, and then the design, establishment and transition to the new legislative, regulatory and contractual regimes, encompassing extensive legislative and regulatory work. Subsequently advising on the lotteries, gaming machine allocation, Keno, and wagering and betting licensing projects.

Victorian Desalination project

Acting for the State of Victoria on this A$5.7 billion PPP project from project inception, onto procurement, design and construction and through to operation and maintenance.

WA Department of Treasury and Finance

Advising, through the State Solicitor’s Office, on the drafting of legislation and associated licences and agreements to give effect to the WA TAB privatisation.

WA Law Reform Commission

Advising on its project to review the Gender Reassignment Act 2000 (WA) and Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1998(WA).

Victorian government entities

Providing strategic, governance, legislative and contractual advice to the Victorian Legal Services Board, Court Services Victoria, Melbourne Convention Centre Trust, VicRoads, VicTrack and other government departments and agencies.
