Regarded as one of Australia’s leading M&A and private capital lawyers, Tim is a trusted advisor to listed companies and private capital managers, including Australian and international private equity and infrastructure funds, sovereign funds, multi-platform alternative asset managers and superannuation funds.

He has advised on some of the country’s largest and most complex transactions with his practice spanning public and private M&A, capital raisings, joint ventures, corporate restructurings and regulatory investigations, including cross-border transactions involving private equity sponsors and listed entities. He also advises on regulatory and corporate governance matters and has worked across a range of industries on strategic corporate activity.

Tim has consistently been listed as a leading lawyer by legal directories and publications including Chambers and Partners, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers.

Tim is a member of the Law Committee of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is the Vice Chair of the Securities Law and Capital Markets Committee of the International Bar Association. He is a Governor of the Centennial Parklands Foundation and a director of Watertrust Australia and the professional Rugby League Players’ Association.

Advised domestic and offshore private capital, sovereign and pension funds and co-investors on a wide variety of transactions including Silver Lake, Bain Capital, Pacific Equity Partners, Blackstone, Crescent Capital, Mercury Capital, IFM Investors and others. 

Listed Companies

Advises domestic and offshore listed companies on transactions, capital raisings and corporate governance matters including CBA, Westpac, PayPal, ASX and others.

Energy and infrastructure

Advised on significant energy and infrastructure transactions including advising Infigen Energy on its take-private by Iberdrola, TCorp (the State of NSW’s sovereign fund) on its investment in Melbourne Airports, Alinta on its restructure by a TPG-led consortium and confidential bidders for AirTrunk, Australia’s largest M&A transaction in 2025.

General Partner and fund manager transactions

Advised on the establishment of, and significant investments into, major private capital managers including National Employment Savings Trust’s investment in IFM Investors, Pinnacle’s investment into 5V, the establishment of Black Kite and Aliro and others.
