Assisting Infrastructure NSW with the strategically important modifications to various planning approvals required to complete the Central Barangaroo Precinct, which has an overall project value of A$2.5 billion.

Stockland

Assisting Stockland in the A$193 million acquisition of the 700-hectare master planned Providence parcel of land at Ripley Valley, Ipswich, Queensland. This parcel has the ability to generate a further A$2 billion in lot sales over the next 20 years. A key issue that needs to be resolved to allow the master planned development to continue is the significant infrastructure constraints which exist in the area.

Western Parkland City Authority

Advising the newly-established Western Parkland City Authority in relation to amendments to planning controls to facilitate the expeditious delivery of high quality development and infrastructure for the new Western Sydney Aerotropolis and Bradfield City Centre. This involves drafting amendments to planning controls and providing strategic planning advice on master planning and utilities in the 11,200 hectare area surrounding the Western Sydney International Airport.

NSW Department of Planning and Environment

Provided extensive strategic advice to the NSW Department of Planning and Environment in relation to several aspects of the Planning Reform Action Plan, which aims to streamline the land rezoning process in NSW. Our advice covered the categorisation of rezoning proposals from complex to simple, necessary associated public infrastructure and delivery arrangements, and options for rezoning proposals to be assessed concurrently with development applications.

Vitale Projects

Assisting local developer Vitale Projects and its joint venture partners, Accor Hotels and The Entertainment Group (both international property groups), to obtain the planning approvals to establish the first ever five-star Mondrian hotel in Australia at a beachfront location in Burleigh on the Gold Coast.

Sekisui House

Advising on the Coolum Queensland development, a proposal for a 220-room five-star Westin Hotel, with a larger resort comprising 148 serviced apartments, 753 residential apartments, 98 two/three storey homes and a 2,770sqm retail village.

Australian Rail Track Corporation and Sydney Trains/TAHE

Advised Australian Rail Track Corporation and Sydney Trains/Transport Asset Holding Entity of NSW on all aspects of the land acquisition, land access and interface arrangements for the Cabramatta Loop and Botany Rail Duplication projects.

Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation

Advising the Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation on land access, property acquisitions, value capture and streamlining of development approval processes for the development of the Special Activation Precinct at Parkes.

BP Australia

Advised BP’s downstream business on various contamination issues including statutory obligations to prevent, manage, remediate and notify contamination at different retail sites, and the contractual allocation of contamination management risks at various leased sites.

Laing O’Rourke

Advised on PFAS contamination management statutory obligations, including waste disposal and tracking requirements associated with a defence site.

Infrastructure NSW

Advising Infrastructure NSW on the iconic urban renewal development project at central Barangaroo in Sydney, including advising on complex planning issues and infrastructure provision for the public domain and privately developed areas of the large urban renewal project.

Department of Transport and Main Roads

Advised the Department of Transport and Main Roads on the environmental and planning approvals, native title and Aboriginal cultural heritage issues for Stage 3 of the Gold Coast Light Rail project, and provided ongoing advice on planning and environmental approval and contamination management requirements.
