Bree is a leading project development, energy and construction lawyer with extensive experience advising sponsors, procuring authorities, lenders, contractors, vendors and investors on the commercial contracting aspects of major energy and infrastructure projects. She brings a strong practical understanding of complex infrastructure projects and is frequently sought out for her ability to deliver advice that is commercial, clear and pragmatic.
Bree advises on the full project lifecycle, including concession and project agreements, EPC and construction arrangements, operations and maintenance agreements, investment agreements, offtake and revenue arrangements, supply agreements and other commercial contracts. She regularly drafts and negotiates these agreements and undertakes commercial due diligence from vendor, investor and lender perspectives.
Bree has practiced extensively throughout Australia and globally. She is currently a Council Member of the International Project Finance Association and has held similar positions with international organisations, including the International Renewable Energy Agency, Women in Energy Asia and the Society of Construction Law Singapore.
Advised Aquila Clean Energy on its investment in and development of the 20.8 MWp Pukenui Solar Farm in New Zealand’s Far North as well as the portfolio financing of solar PV projects with an expected capacity of 180MWp. This portfolio forms part of a broader 1.4GW solar PV pipeline developed through a joint venture between Aquila and Far North Solar Farm Limited and is New Zealand’s first non-recourse solar portfolio financing by foreign investors.
Advised Akaysha Energy on its development of the 840MW/1,640 MWh Waratah Super Battery and its subsequent pipeline of battery projects, including the 415MW/1,660MWh Orana, 150MW/300MWh Ulinda Park, 205MW/410MWh Brendale and 300MW/1,200MWh Elaine BESS Projects as well as applications for and the award of Capacity Investment Scheme Agreements.
Advised Mainstream Renewable Power (and subsequently Gippsland Skies as project proponent) on its investment, the negotiation of consortium arrangements and the proposed development of a 2.5GW offshore windfarm in Gippsland, Victoria.
Advised Global Power Generation on the development of a hybrid 125 MW solar and 55MW / 220MWh battery energy project in Western Australia.
Advised the Commonwealth on the decommissioning of O&G assets and including on the tender and contract award of Phase 1 of the decommissioning of the Northern Endeavour.
Advised Nebras on its acquisition of interests in and the negotiation of procurement arrangements for the 312MW Moorabool wind farm in Victoria.
Advised Twinza on the early stage development and financing of its Pasca A condensate project in Papua New Guinea.
